On the bike

Getting back  intae the fitness malarkey after the New year. Weathers not been conducive tae enjoyable cycling just now, so it’s been 2 “Virtual” rides on the turbo trainer and 2 lunchtime runs  this week.

Highlight being a virtual ride up the Majorcan bucket lister  ‘Sa Colobra’ climb on BKool simulator.  Almost got wiped out by a bus aswell or should I say , whoever filmed the footage almost did.

If I ever get lucky enough to do the climb for real, one learning from that video and from popular opinion.  Do it early in the morning before the tourist buses hit it or later in the evening.  Apparently its stunning with a setting sun.

Alot of Pr’s?  As always on the first attempt on a route!!

Listening to

We have a very eclectic and varied taste in music.  But let’s start here with this Damien Jurado tune.  A blend of picky folksy guitar over a four to the floor club mix. Throw in a bit mouthy and we’ve got a rootin tootin kitchen shuffler on our hands.

Alone

Contender for one of the best cycling books I’ve read.  Fournell’s stylish prose describing the life and times of the often misaligned character of Jacques Anquetil. A man the French loved to hate and hated to love.

One Man Band

As described on the label. ‘Meticulous blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Mourvedre and Viognier represents the lone musician playing his many instruments’.

well for me the lone musician was playing a very nice tune indeed and to keep with the music theme.  The whole ensemble harmonising above the sum of its parts. Deep colour with Intense taste and a long crescendo!!

Paired well with a good movie ( see below) post pizza!

Watching

Talk about the perfect hat trick and I’m not talking. Left, right & heed. I’m talking, good wine, movie and soundtrack.  Really enjoyed watching TUMBLEDOWN with the missus. Poignant, funny with a great soundtrack ( see listening to: Damien Jurado), always the kicker for me.

Happy rolling
